In December 2015 my mum died suddenly. Reeling from helping my father and my kids (and myself) through their grief, I did what I do best and organised an escape six months later. I have always been interested in World War II history and Cold War history, this trip was to indulge those interests. After landing in Hamburg, because that’s where my points took me, I had three weeks that took me to Berlin, Krakow, Prague, Salzburg, Vienna and Budapest. Fast paced and all on public transport, I made the most of every single day.
As with my trip to Greece, my journey began at the local train station, then, from Melbourne airport, Emirates took me to Germany. I knew I was over Germany when I saw the wind turbines! Strap yourself in and join me over the next few posts as I relive this magnificent experience.
